Bromo Ijen Tour From Surabaya

Bromo Ijen Tour From Surabaya

Popular Trekking Package Bromo Ijen Tour From Surabaya East Java Indonesia. Mount Bromo and Ijen Crater are probably the most famous volcanoes on the island of Java. Each volcano has its specific attractions. Mount Bromo is very special with the spectacular sunrise panorama, also the cultural activites of the Tenggernese people make the area very interesting. And Mount Ijen has its famous blue flame, acid lake and the back breaking activity of the sulfur miners. Bromo – Ijen tour package is designed to see both amazing volcanoes in 3 days 2 nights.

1. How to get there?

Fly into Juanda international airport at Surabaya or Abdul Rachman Saleh Airport (IATA: MLG) at Malang is a small regional airport with flights from Jakarta only and access from here makes sense if you intend to enter the park via the Tumpang/Ngadas route.

2.Nearest Airport? Surabaya or Malang!

Singapore Surabaya tour

For those who are coming from outside Java Island, the most convenient airports to fly into are Surabaya and Malang. I personally prefer Surabaya. It is one of the major cities in Indonesia, and hence there are more flights, especially international ones, available. Mount Bromo Ijen Tour From Singapore, Malaysia. There are direct flights from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Jakarta and Bali. If you are flying domestic from Jakarta, you may take Sriwijaya that flies twice weekly.

3.How long From Surabaya to Mount Bromo then to Kawah Ijen

Distance from Surabaya airport to the Mount Bromo national park is about 70km and the time it takes is around 4 hours due to heavy traffic and congestion. On the way, you would pass Probolinggo town which lies at the major highway across java. Here is where most backpackers would usually share a transport to take them up to the Bromo Tengger Semeru National park. Or get a complete overnight sunrise tour from Surabaya to Mt. Bromo and then from Bromo To Banyuwangi (the city of Ijen Crater Located) take about 5-6 hours driving including stop for lunch.

4. When is the Best Time to Visit?

Mount Bromo Tour From Surabaya

As for the season to visit – plan to visit both of Mount Bromo And Ijen Crater East Java Indonesia during the dry season. The dry season in Java, where Mount Bromo is located, is between April to October. During this time, May to oct are the best months with the chance of least rain. Avoid visiting Mount Bromo between the rainy season since the slippery paths and volcanic mud and can make hiking around the national park difficult. Also, keep in mind that Mount Bromo is an active volcano. How accessible it is depends on the eruptive status so be sure to check the status before you head over.

We were a family of three who travelled on a 3 night tour of Bromo/ Ijen from 22nd to 25th April. We had trouble deciding on a tour operator since all websites give out the same information and look similar. We sent out an initial mail to ijenbromotours.com and received a prompt reply from Devita. Devita replied to all our queries about the itinerary and the costing patiently and even managed to change our hotel bookings to get us the accommodation we requested since we had a eleven year old daughter travelling with us( Jiwa Jawa resort Bromo and Ijen Resort ). the tour cost had to be transferred upfront and the remaining had to be paid to the guide. We were received at the Surabaya train station by our guide Mr. Slamet and our driver Mr. Irfan. Mr. Irfan was a quiet, smiling and capable driver. Mr. Slamet was extremely friendly and patient throughout the tour. He made sure our tour went off without a hitch in spite of a chaotic and busy weekend full of tourists at the Bromo crater even ditching the four wheel drive halfway through the Bromo climb to arrange for Ojeks(local bike taxis) for us to reach the viewpoint just before sunrise. Though the clouds masked the sunrise the view from the top was breathtaking. We even crossed the sea of sand to reach the rim of the Bromo crater. To peek into the bowels of the earth was a surreal experience. From there was a six hour drive to Ijen and an early morning (1 AM ) three hour trek to the Ijen crater to see the blue fire. Mr. Slamet had thoughtfully brought along good quality gas masks for all of us. He was happy for us at our delight on seeing the blue fire. At the end of the tour they dropped us off at the ferry port even ensuring that a person accompanied us on the ferry journey to the port in Bali where a taxi was waiting to transfer us to Bali airport. We would recommend GWI travels for anyone looking for a reliable tour operator for the Bromo Ijen tour.

Ijen Bromo Tours, based in Banyuwangi, created a great 5-day travel package for us.
Gigeh & Devita have been amazing in communicating and arranging a once in a lifetime adventure for us!

From the start of requesting quotes and information, the booking process, pre-payment, our guide and driver, the itinerary and sights – right till the end when we were dropped at our hotel in Bali… everything ran super smooth and we were looked after very well.

We were met by our driver (Mr Usup) and our (very well) English speaking guide (Mr Slamet) at our hotel in Surabaya.
Our journey DAY 1 took us to the Madakaripura Waterfall and on to our hotel in Bromo. We were made aware in advance that accommodation in these remote areas are basic, so nothing ever came as a bad surprise.
DAY 2 we saw the sun rise – a spectacular view of Mt Bromo, and then drove over the caldera and climbed to the rim of Mt Bromo. This was the highlight of my whole Java trip.
We then drove to Kalibaru Highlands and spent a lovely day at the Margo Utomo Agro Resort. The next morning, DAY 3, we travelled to Sukumade … a 4-hour rough 4WD journey that took us through rivers and valleys to reach the Ranger’s accommodation in a very remote area. The accommodation here is VERY basic, but the experience of seeing the Green Turtles laying their eggs on the beach at night, and releasing the Tukik (baby turtles) the next morning, makes it all worth while. Day 4, Our last stretch was to Ketapang Indah Hotel in Banyuwangi (more modern 3* resort by the beach). We spent most of the day catching up on sleep, as we needed to meet our guide and driver at 12H30 to depart for our Kawah Ijen Blue Flame tour – another once in a lifetime experience. After our Kawah Ijen experience, we were taken back to the hotel to enjoy breakfast, freshen up and check out. DAY 5 we were transported and assisted right to the ferry to Gilimanuk. At Gilimanuk we were met by the transport provider who drove us for 4 hours (with a lunch stop) to our hotel in Ubud.

Ijen Bromo Tours arrange all this for us and we were very pleased. Great service, good value and trustworthy!
Thank you Gigeh, Devita, Mr Usup & Mr Slamet – you provided us with an experience of a lifetime. Find it on: tripadvisor

Bromo Ijen Tour From Yogyakarta

Bromo Ijen Tour From Yogyakarta

Bromo Ijen Tour Yogyakarta

How to get to Bromo Ijen From Yogyakarta? Bromo Ijen Tour From Yogyakarta | Yogyakarta to Bromo Car Rental, A road trip through Java is a real holiday adventure. The best route to take if you plan to drive from Yogyakarta to Bromo is to go to Cemoro Lawang Village Mount Bromo. The first part of the journey from Yogyakarta through to Solo is along a busy main road. However, once you get past Solo the trip becomes a lot more interesting and the countryside can be really spectacular. The area around Tawangmangu is one of the highlights of the trip. The area is in the highlands. The hills are covered with deciduous forest and the farmland is rich and fertile (you can buy fresh strawberries from the roadside stalls, which make for a tasty and healthy snack).

Mount Bromo

Mount Bromo or Bromo Volcano of indonesia called (Gunung Bromo) this name of Bromo derived from javanese pronunciation of Brahma the Hindu Creator God, is an active Volcano in East Java Indonesia. Mount Bromo, one of the top travel destinations in East Java Indonesia, is an active volcano situated in a surreal but spectacular massive caldera. While very busy with tourists, almost to the point of being a put-off at the sunrise viewpoints, it is definitely still worth a visit. The active volcano sits inside the gargantuan Tengger caldera – with a total diameter of around 10 km – and is surrounded by the Laut Pasir (Sea of Sand) that’s made up of fine volcanic sand. The overall setting is a sight to see – serene and beautifully other-wordly in stark comparison to the lush green valleys that surround the caldera.

How long from yogyakarta to bromo?

It takes about 11 hours to drive from Yogyakarta to Cemoro Lawang. Most tourists will stay overnight at a hotel in Cemoro Lawang Village Bromo and then leave early in the morning at about 03:30 Am to go to Mt Bromo for sunrise. This is a nice option, not only do you get a private driver who will take you where you want to go, it’s also a great way to see the countryside of Java. However, be warned all this driving is tiring.

While it is possible to drive from Yogyakarta to Surabaya and then to Bromo the route doesn’t really make much sense. Not only is it a longer drive, but there’s less to see on the way, many of our costumers feel bored so we suggest you to take a train/Flight From Yogakarta to Surabaya then from Juanda International Aiport Surabayba, We can help you to arrange your trip.

Yogyakarta To Bromo By Train

Yogyakarta to Bromo by train

You can also take a plane to Surabaya, but time-wise train is almost as good and much less hassle. My recommendation is to somehow book the train in advance (you cannot book without Indonesian CC so will have to pay a commission to a hotel, tour operator etc) in my opinion worth it if you don’t want to end up in Bisniss Class (which is 2nd class). Executive class has air con (to excess) and very comfy seats (well, we only had a look at them, didn’t get the chance to actually sit on them). Yogya Surabaya journey is 4 hours (maybe a tad longer if the train is late).

A Bromo tour to arriving in Yogya- it’s best to use companies based in Surabaya or Malang that have local knowledge and contacts. We are very reliable. We can pick you up from Surabaya station or aiport.

Best way to get from Yogyakarta to Bromo

There’s no ‘best way’ to go from Yogyakarta to Bromo. If you’re on a tight itinerary I’d recommend flying from Yogyakarta to Surabaya and then arranging a car rental to take you to Bromo and Ijen. If you have the tim, however, a road trip through Java is a great experience.

Thank you Gigeh, Devita, Mr Usup & Mr Slamet – you provided us with an experience of a lifetime, Find it on: tripadvisor

Popittyr - Bromo Ijen Tour From Singapore

We had a fantastic tour with Mount Bromo Ijen Tours. Devita in their office always replied quickly to our emails and arranged our trip quickly and efficiently even though we contacted them really last minute.
The tour was very well organised with everything clearly explained. Our lovely guide Mr Selamet was so cheery and funny and full of information about the volcanoes and surrounding area and our driver Mr Yusef was the smoothest and most careful driver we’ve experienced so far in Indonesia! The volcanoes themselves were absolutely stunning and well worth the early starts to see the sunrises and the blue fire. Sadly the Ijen crater was closed to tourists due to recent volcanic activity when we were there but you could still see the blue fire from the edge of the crater and it was definitely still worth the trip in my opinion.
The accommodation was basic but ok and the places we stopped for lunch each day served decent and tasty (although not the cheapest) food.
The only downside to it was that the 3day 2night tour starting from Surabaya and ending in Denpasar involved a lot of driving, 4-6 hours each of the 3 days. The tour itinerary clearly stated this so we knew what we were getting ourselves into and were tight for time so we didn’t have much choice but if you had more time I would recommend taking a bit longer to see them, stop for a night somewhere along the way to break it up a bit and then also catch up on sleep in between the two early starts! However if you only have 3 days and you want to see both volcanos then these guys are a good choice to go with. tripadvisor.com

Ijen Crater Travel Guide

Ijen Crater Travel Guide

Ijen Crater Travel GuideIjen Plateau, known as “Kawah Ijen“, is a volcano complex located in East Java and is regarded as one of the unmissable sights in Indonesia. Ijen is a quiet but active volcano, set amidst a stunning landscape of volcanic cones and a beautiful turquoise coloured sulfur lake.

  1. Where is Ijen Crater Located?

Banyuwangi is at the easternmost tip of Java, and is best known for its ferry connection at Ketapang to Gilimanuk in Bali. This area has a lot more to offer though and it is becoming better known as a visitor destination in its own right. Banyuwangi is also the gateway to some stunning volcanic scenery on the Ijen Plateau as well as the main access point to Mount Bromo

  1. How to get to Ijen Crater?

Kawah Ijen, which literally translates to “Ijen Crater,” is located in far eastern Java island. To reach Ijen, take the train from Yogyakarta or Surabaya to Karangasem station or, alternatively, the ferry from Bali to Ketapang. Due to the danger involved in entering the crater, hiring a guide is highly advisable.

Mount Bromo Travel Guide

  1. When is the best time to visit Ijen Crater?

The best time to visit Ijen Crater is during the dry season from April to October. April – October where there is less rain but more tourists. But that being said, Indonesia being a fairly mild weather of just rain and shine, anytime is a good time to go Mount Bromo, only check out for local weather when you are there for the best clear sky for your sunrise experience. If you do not have many days then hope for the best when you are there.

  1. How do i hike Ijen Crater?

There are few options for hike Ijen crater, you can either start at 1am or 4am to arrive at the top of the crater by daylight. Many travelers recommend to do the night hiking up to Ijen Crater to catch the Magical Ijen Crater Blue Flame or also known as Ijen Crater Blue Fire. To get this you have to arrive at the top before sunrise of 6am. The hike up takes 1.5-2 hours averagely and can be quite steep The good thing is at this time there are not many other tourists around as well. After being mesmerized by the blue flames enough, you can sit back at the summit and wait for sunrise which offers another spectacular view.

  1. How to get around (a itinerary like)?

The trip starts at 1am from Banyuwangi. You can get around in most preferred choice a 4WD. After that it is all on foot to hike up Mount Ijen to get to the crater and to walk around the crater rim. But in case of a high activity of the volcano sometime can be shifted to the morning or even prohibited for tourists. Normally the entrance opened about 2 am. travelers will climb 3 km is not it and they will come down to the crater, the road to the bottom of the crater are very steep and hard about about 250 meters. Only then, the blue flame pins. This amazing natural phenomenon. Blue flame at Kawah Ijen is unique, rare, and becoming an attraction itself. It also adds to the beauty of Ijen Crater, after the sunrise. On the top of Ijen crater you will see a few flashes of blue fire, but when we descent to the lake you can make some pictures. The road back is very beautiful. Mountain peaks of volcanic complex, a fog and clouds shrouding slopes, scorched trees and dense vegetation of forests and fields are on the way.

  1. How difficult is the hike to the crater rim?

Is it a difficult hike? “Very steep, yes, but you go up at night, so you can’t see how steep it is”. The hike up is tough, but rather short (it will take you no about 1.5 hrs to reach the top / 3 km), This section of the trail is basically a wide dirt road but sloping upwards all the way to the rim.

  1. Can I go down to the crater floor?

The tour guide will only be able to lead you up to the crater rim, as this is part of the Indonesian National Park regulations. it is possible to arrange for a local miner/workers to lead you down to the crater where you can take a clearer look at the blue flames (it will be your own risk). There will be extra cost for optional hike down the crater cost around IDR 150,000 for each pax.

  1. Is it possible to stay a long time close to a dense acid gas without a mask?

Not for sure! Acrid sulfur gas (sulfur dioxide) is very dangerous to health. High temperature near the pipes from which sulfur flows is a life-threatening. For good pictures, you should go to the epicenter of heavy whitish-yellow smoke. Despite the mask, it was very difficult to breathe, your eyes will fill with tears. after each next step on the slope above the hot liquid sulfur. I think that just such adventure is not terrible 🙂 Note: There will be Local tour guide (workers) will lead you to see the blue flame & We suggest you to stay on top (not going down to the crater), Our guide will only be able to lead you up to the crater rim, as this is part of the Indonesian National Park regulations.
