Mount Bromo Sunrise and Ijen Blue Fire
Mount Bromo Sunrise Tour
Let me tell you about my incredible trip to Mount Bromo in Indonesia! It’s easily the most famous volcano there, and for good reason.
The landscape is unreal – a giant stretch of volcanic sand at the base, surrounded by mountains, other volcanoes, and a crater that smokes constantly, day and night.
Mount Bromo is actually active, and its last eruption was just in 2021! Because of that, I got to do something amazing – climb right up to the crater of an active volcano! It was so amazing, and it was an incredible feeling.
You could actually feel the ground rumble beneath your feet, and seeing the crater up close was mind-blowing.
To experience this, we decided to explore independently and stayed in the village of Cemoro lawang, about an hour and a half from Probolinggo.
The village itself isn’t packed with activities, but the location was perfect. It allowed us to climb the volcano in the afternoon, right after we arrived, when there were hardly any crowds.
Then, we hiked in the middle of the night to a viewpoint to catch the sunrise. That sunrise was definitely one of the highlights of my entire East Java Tour Package 5 Day to Indonesia!
Ijen Blue Fire Tour
The second most iconic volcano on the island of Java is Kawah Ijen. Despite having visited it a year earlier with a tour agency (I share my experience in this article), I was eager to return and climb it independently this time.
To reach Kawah Ijen, it’s a 1-hour drive from either Bondowoso or Banyuwangi. We set out at 1:00 a.m. with the goal of reaching the 2300m summit.
The climb is steep and quick, but it helps us warm up. We trek by the light of our headlamp, occasionally turning it off to admire the stunning starry sky.
We arrived an hour after the organised tours [the trail opens at 2:00], so we had the summit to ourselves.
It was a unique and cool atmosphere! We decided not to go down to the lake or see the blue flames above the sulphur fumes at night, out of respect for the hard work of the sulphur miners.
It was 4:30 a.m. when we reached the crater’s top, just as the sun was coming up. And the view was incredible! We sat on a rock and enjoyed the beautiful colours of the landscape changing.
It was a truly magnificent place. Another incredible sunrise that left us feeling really emotional!
Tumpak Sewu Waterfall East Java
Forget the tourist traps, this trip is about truly experiencing the beauty of Java! Tumpak Sewu Waterfall is a haven for nature lovers, nestled less than 5 hours from Bromo, 5 hours from Surabaya and 2 hours from Malang.
While the majestic Tumpak Sewu waterfall “1000 Waterfalls” is the region’s star attraction.
The lush green surroundings offered a surprising abundance of hiking trails. Ditching the East Java Tour Package 5 Days itinerary.
Guided by friendly locals, we stumbled upon hidden waterfalls, scenic hikes, and breathtaking viewpoints overlooking the majestic Mount Semeru.
These adventures were the most natural and rewarding part of our entire Java journey.
Calling all Adventurous Souls:
Tempted to explore beyond the usual tourist spots? If you find yourself in Lumajang, I’ll be happy to share the list of hikes we conquered (Panorama Viewpoint, Tumpak Sewu point Goatetes, and Kapas Biru waterfall).
Remember, the most breathtaking discoveries often lie off the beaten path. And yes, while Tumpak Sewu is undeniably impressive, the true magic lies in uncovering the hidden gems!

Sukamade Turtle Beach Tours
In the southeast of the island of Java, extends the Meru Betiri National Park, a dense tropical forest where the protected beach of Sukamade is nestled, one of the most important turtle nesting grounds in Indonesia.
The island of Java is often forgotten in favor of the pretty Bali . Some intrepid travelers, however, venture into its eastern part, near its majestic volcanoes , Kawah Ijen or Bromo.
But fewer people know that just a day’s journey away, an unusual beach is hidden in Meru Betiri National Park.
Along the most remote coast of southeast Java, Sukamade is home to large groups of turtles who come to lay their eggs throughout the year. A captivating and unique event that a handful of visitors have the chance to see.
Welcome to Jungle Meru Betiri National Park
Located between Jember and Banyuwangi in Java, Indonesia, the Meru Betiri National Park covers about 580 km2. With its thick rainforest and diverse wildlife, this park is a popular destination.
It’s known as the last known habitat of the Javan tiger, and is home to various bird species, leopards, wild boars, monkeys, wild bulls, monitor lizards, and the reticulated python.
Meru Betiri is challenging to access, especially during the rainy season. It’s best to visit from April to November when the road to the park can be rough, and a rough 4X4 ride is required to reach Sukamade beach through the enchanting jungle.!
This East Java Tour Package 5 Days is good for your adventure trip in Indonesia.

Nano was a fabulous tour guide and Mr Usup our driver was super professional.
Highly recommend the tour if you like adventure and you’re used to doing some hiking. If we go back to Java, we’d not hesitate in doing another tour with the same agency! The agency was so detailed and helpful since the beginning I got in touch with some questions on Whatsapp. Good value for the price and excellent service.
Excellent tour

The trip was amazing. The whole thing ran very smoothly. The homestay and hotel were both very nice. We were in good time to see all we wanted to see and both our driver and guide nano were exceptionally good at providing us with extras like good sunset spot on the first night and good restaurants to go to. Furthermore any questions we had about the volcanos and areas around them was answered with great knowledge. Overall an amazing trip
