Tumpak Sewu Waterfall is the most beautyfull waterfall in East java Indonesia. Tumpak Sewu Waterfall also known as Coban Sewu which means a thousand waterfalls, in Javanese means (Thousand Waterfalls). I think Tumpak Sewu waterfall is the most spectacular and best waterfall in Indonesia. Tumpak Sewu Waterfall is standing at 120 metres tall, Tumpak Sewu powers down the side of a steep cliff face whilst surrounded by dense jungle, Tumpak Sewu waterfall is strongly recommend visiting as part of any Indonesia itinerary.
Tumpak Sewu Waterfall Indonesia (Location)
Tumpak Sewu Waterfall is a tiered waterfall that is located between the Pronojiwo District, Lumajang Regency, and the Ampelgading District, Malang Regency, in East Java, Indonesia. The waterfall is overshadowed by Semeru, an active volcano and the highest mountain in Java. The Glidik River is a meltwater source fed from the mountain, which is the primary flow for the waterfall.
Tumpak Sewu Waterfall How to get there?
Tumpak Sewu waterfall lumajang is located in Lumajang East Java, and is best visited from either Probolinggo or Malang. We recommend doing a Mount Ijen and Mount Bromo hike on your visit to East Java, either before or after visiting Tumpak Sewu Waterfall. You can combine it with other tour program such Surabaya/Malang Bromo Tumpak Sewu Waterfall Ijen Tour 4D3N.
Basically there are at least 3 available ways to get to this falls which are via Probolinggo, Surabaya & Malang. But I think the easiest alternative if you go there from Lumajang would be via Sidomulyo as the gate entrance can be clearly spotted from the main street. But if you combine it with other tour program such Bromo and Ijen Volcano 4D tour, we highly reccomment to do Bromo Tour first – Tumpak Sewu Waterfall – and last day Ijen Volcano (The itinerary will be modified based on your arrivall time in Surabaya or Malang)
How to get around Tumpak Sewu Waterfall?
There are 2 entrances to Tumpak Sewu Waterfall Lumajang (the east entrance and the west entrance), for the detail below:

Arriving at the car park to the east entrance of the waterfall, follow the path downhill. At about 15 minutes you will arrive to the best viewpoint amazing views of Tumpak Sewu waterfall. Enjoy the best panoramic Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, It is best point with less tourist.
Climb down the valley
To get to the next base of the waterfall you need to take a steep path down. You must be carefull on walking down the valey it is a tough walk and certainly not for the faint hearted. To reach the base of the waterfall you , which takes around 45 minutes.
You will walk down via bamboo stairs and through small streams. You have to be fit to do this walk down. It is not dangerous but you do have to watch your steps and be careful. Do not wear flip-flops and wear sandals instead. After you are done descending to the ground, you have to walk for another 5 minutes crossing two walking bridges over the river to get to Tumpak Sewu.

An other alteralternative route is to visit from the west entrance to the waterfall. This route is quite far and worse then at the east route. The path pretty much consists of a series of bamboo ladders down the side of a cliff. We strongly recommend visiting via the east entrance if you want to climb down to the base of the waterfall
Tumpak Sewu Waterfall Entrance Fee
The journey to the Tumpak Sewu Waterfall takes about 1.5-2 hours. To be able to enter the Waterfall Tumpak Sewu tourist area, the entrance fee here where you will have to pay 10,000 Rupiah ($1) to park a car, and 20,000 Rupiah for the waterfall entrance fee. Plan to visit the waterfall from 6 AM for the best light and limited to 14.00 WIB.
Best time to visit Tumpak Sewu Waterfall?
The best time to visit Tumpak Sewu Waterfall is in the dry season which is the months of May through to November. As we mentioned earlier, the hike down to the falls is challenging and slippery when wet, so wear suitable footwear and take plenty of drinking water with you.
